December 13th, 2018 was the 81st anniversary of Nanjing Massacre and the fifth National Memorial Day. A series of commemoration activities with the theme of “Remember History and Rejuvenate China” was held in SUEP to mourn the compatriots who died in Nanjing Massacre and the revolutionary heroes who sacrificed for the country, so as to further stimulate the students' patriotic enthusiasm.
At 10:30 a.m., the school leaders of SUEP including Li Mingfu, Weng Peifen, Xu Kai, Feng Jinzhang and Huang Dongmei, representatives of teachers and students from SUEP, Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai Dianji University, Shanghai Jian Qiao University, Shanghai Industry and Commerce Foreign Languages College, and Shanghai Sipo Polytechnic College attended theactivities in the stadium of Lingang campus. The event was presided over by Xu Kai, the vice president and deputy secretary of the Party committee of SUEP.
Under the escort of the national flag guards, a solemn ceremony was held to raise the national flag and play the national anthem of the People's Republic of China. The Peace Declaration on National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims recited by student representatives conveyed the belief that SUEP students would take history as a mirror to revitalize China.
Li Mingfu, secretary of the Party committee of SUEP, pointed out in his speech that today's commemoration activities were not only to honor the compatriots who died in Nanjing Massacre and the Anti-Japanese War, but also to call all teachers, students and contemporary citizens’ yearning for and adherence to peace. Remembering the history was to inherit the future and remembering the martyrs was to maintain peace. The first motto of SUEP was Patriotism. Let us always adhere to the direction of socialist education, take moral education as the fundamental task to improve students' patriotism education and cultivation of national feelings, bear in mind the history and revitalize China!
