On the occasion of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and the Central Military Commission decided to issue medals to the comrades who had made important contributions to the establishment of PRC and the socialist modernization. Six retired cadres of SUEP, i.e. Li Ying, Xu Zhensheng, Xu Shengshu, Pang Yingchen, Wang Menghua and Cao Sizhi were awarded such commemorative medals.

Recently, the head of the Retired Veteran Cadre Office of the Party Committee sent the medals to the retired comrades, read out the message of good wishes on the spot and conveyed the central government’s praise of their historical achievements.

The old comrades expressed their wishes and gratitude to the Party and the country. Li Ying said excitedly: “I will cherish the glorious history and forever preserve the political character of Communists. I believe that under the strong leadership of the Central Committee, we will realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as soon as possible.” Xu Shengshu sincerely thanked the Party and the country for their concern and encouragement to the veteran comrades. He said he would use the supreme honor to encourage the younger generations to contribute to the cause of socialist construction.
