The year of the Pig has gone and the year of the Rat is coming. Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) held a grand party with students who would stay on campus during winter holidays to celebrate the coming Chinese Spring Festival in Dianyuan Hotel at 18:00 on January, 21th, 2020. School leaders Xu Kai, Feng Jinzhang, and Huang Dongmei as well as heads of functional divisions and relevant departments attended the party.
In the beginning, Xu Kai, deputy Secretary and Vice President of Party Committee of SUEP, delivered a Lunar New Year speech in which he extended his greetings and wishes to all students and staff in SUEP on behalf of school Party Committee. He noted that our SUEP shouldered the responsibilities to fulfill the tasks of energy development assigned by superior departments and played an active role in the construction of Lingang special area in 2019; meanwhile, SUEP made great achievements in many fields, including talents training, discipline construction, scientific research, social services and international exchange, etc.
Xu Kai highlighted that as far as China is concerned, the year 2020 will be a year of milestone significance, and 2020 is also significant and meaningful to SUEP. So we shall make joint efforts all of one heart to push forward the improvement of student comprehensive quality as well as of discipline core competence. He also called on students to follow the spirit of patriotism, ‘seize the day and live it to the full’, and make contributions to the country.
Next, the party started with the violin solo carried the theme My Motherland and I. School leaders, along with teachers and students joined in the toast to the coming Lunar New Year, and all presented were surrounded by happiness and pride.
As time went by, a number of spectacular shows were on stage one by one, which made everyone immersed in happy atmosphere. The school leaders also performed themselves on stage, which pushed the party to climax. Xu Kai sang a song China I Love You, which won loud applause and cheering from the teachers and students. Huang Dongmei presented a famous Beijing opera singing segment, which also attracted teachers and students deeply. There were some interesting fun games and activities at the party, including red envelope distribution, raffle draw and trivia games. Five international students from Morocco presented their local music to every paticipants.
Finally, all students got together to take a photo recording the happy and joyful moments.
