Recently, the summary and commendation conference of 2019 Summer Social Practice of “Bringing Three Things to Rural Areas” for National College and Secondary Vocational School Student Volunteers has been held by the Youth Development Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. And the Youth League Committee of our school was once again awarded the National Excellent Unit of Summer Social Practice. It was reported that a total of 9 Youth League committees in Shanghai won this honor.
During this summer vacation, 31 teams consisted of 440 teachers and students went to 14 provinces, including Gansu, Fujian and Yunan, to carry out the summer social practice. They visited 22 power plants, collected 6,425 valid questionnaires, wrote 61 survey reports, toured 26 red bases, called on 13 Red Army veterans, and brought care for 128 left-behind elderly people, 640 children, and 828 students in impoverished areas.
For a long time, the Youth League Committee of the university has been attaching great importance to summer social practice. And in the future, it will further focus on the talent cultivation during the whole process of practice, increase support for practice projects, enhance their spillover effect, and strive to integrate summer social practice into education system, so as to make social practice a “walking ideological and political class” facing the whole society.
