In order to further implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives and the CPC Central Committee’s decisions and deployment that guide the college counselors to know more about the epidemic situation and corresponding coping strategies, so as to increase their ability in ideological and political education for young students under the new situation, the national demonstration class for training college counselors online was opened on March 27, which was sponsored by the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, and undertaken by the Center of Training Work Team on College Moral Education of National Academy of Education Administration.
The Student Affairs Office of our school attached great importance to it and organized all the 66 counselors to attend this training. The class was divided into four parts: learning courses, online Q & A, discussing topics and sharing knowledge gained. It involved six modules: value and thoughts guidance, career planning and employment guidance, academic guidance and class management, psychological adjustment and health maintenance, daily affairs and education management, as well as epidemic prevention and control.
On the morning of April 4, counselors of SUEP listened to the online lecture “How to Relieve Academic and Graduation Anxiety During the Epidemic” given by Professor Chen Shunsen from Minnan Normal University. In the process, the counselors actively interacted with Professor Chen, and learned effective ways to relieve students’ academic and employment anxiety in the epidemic prevention and control period. The lecture was suspended at 10 a.m., and all counselors observed a moment of silence in tribute to the martyrs and compatriots who died in the fight against COVID-19.
After the lecture, all the counselors participated in the first online discussion with the topic of “how to enhance the ideological and political education of young students during the epidemic”. They talked about their ideas and practices based on their own work, and lighted up the flame of thinking.
The national online training for college counselors will help our school’s counselor team to further understand the starting point and objective of student management during the epidemic prevention and control period, and improve their ability in ideological and political education under the new situation, thus promoting the specialization and professionalization of the counselor team.
