On October 22nd, the study meeting (expansion) of SUEP Party Committee Central Group for Theoretical Learning was held at the Lecture Hall in Academic Building on Lingang Campus. Ambassador Luo Linquan, chief concierge officer of China and vice president of China Public Diplomacy Association, gave a special lecture of Sino-American Relations and the Diplomacy of China. Nearly 200 people attended the meeting, which was presided over by Li Mingfu, secretary of the Party Committee of the University.
Using informative materials and vivid language, Ambassador Luo reviewed the history of Sino-American exchanges, analyzed the reasons leading to current situation and looked forward to the future of Sino-American relations. Combined with the glorious history of New China's diplomacy, Ambassador Luo expounded on China's independent diplomatic layout and its requirements for diplomatic personnel. He pointed out that the development and trend of Sino-American relations not only concerns the fundamental interests of the two countries, but also is an important factor affecting the world’s peace, stability and prosperity. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 41 years ago, China has remained committed to the sound and steady development of Sino-American relations. From a long-term perspective, cooperation remains the future of Sino-American relations.
Li concluded that Ambassador Luo's lecture gave us a comprehensive, systematic, objective and rational understanding of Sino-American relations. He stressed that the long-term development of the school is also closely related to the international environment. Party members and cadres should raise the political awareness, set the right direction for development, have a deep understanding of the laws governing the development of international relations, and remain true to the original aspiration of educating people for the Party and the country. We should integrate talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, international exchanges and cooperation with the new binary development pattern of the country, with the new development trend of national electric power industry, and with the comprehensive reform of national higher education in the new era, so as to make contributions to promoting social development and defending world peace.
