With the pleasant weather in March we start to make a blueprint for the year 2021. On the afternoon of March 4th, we gathered in Room 301, one of the Conference Halls located in the Academics Building, Lin’gang Campus to celebrate the 111th International Women’s Day as well as to hold an awarding ceremony and an Educational Development Forum. The theme of the event is “Following the steps of CPC Women start a new journey”. Among the attendees there are experts, Committee members of the University Women’s Labor Union, members of the University Labor Union, prizewinners (individually and collectively), heads of some functional departments, and delegates from every college. Amidst the democratic atmosphere they launched a free discussion. Both Li Mingfu, Party Secretary of the university, and Li Hexing, President and Vice Party Secretary of the university were present at the gathering, which was hosted by Madam Zhang, Head of the University Women’s Labor Union and chief accountant of the university.
At first Li Mingfu sent seasonable greetings to all the female workers of the university on behalf of the Party Committee and extended gratitude to them for their outstanding performance in all respects. He pointed out that the year 2021 is very special because it is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China as well as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of our university; furthermore, the year 2021 is the first year of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan and plays an important part in pushing forward transition and development. To all the female workers he expressed some expectations as follows: First, they should build up themselves as sensible practitioners. While increasing their political awareness, they have to improve their academic aptitude all the time. Second, they must pursue strenuously their career development. With a percentage of 57.6 of the whole faculty they should fully display their abilities to hold up half the sky so that they will seek self-fulfillment by getting themselves involved in various activities favorable to the university development. Third, they should undertake the mission to pass on the Chinese Virtues. All the Chinese women must take the initiative to be nurtured from great Chinese Culture and Traditions and take the lead to practice the core socialist values to make fraternity felt and build up a harmonious university with the love for their families and beauty itself.
After that, President Li Hexing read out aloud the list of prizewinners. All the university-based and municipality-based woman pace-setters (collectively) for the year 2019- 2020, and the award-winners for “the Most Beautiful Family in Shanghai of the Year 2020” were conferred the prizes one after another.

Lu Yi, vice president of the Trade Union of Lin’gang Group, and secretary of Lin’gang Branch of Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association, made an introduction of the training system of professional talents and the Ladder-pattern Talents-training Plan. She insisted that we could build the training bases in Lin’gang New City as major platforms for the cooperation between the local universities and companies by making an overall plan, strengthen the collaboration between the local work units, enlarging the resources and sharing them among the local universities. On the other hand, it is also encouraged to establish a team of craftsmen and set up a college of model craftsmen with the support of local universities and enterprises or institutes of training technicians to match the current new mode of apprenticeship.
Mr. Miao Xinghua, deputy chief economist and vice HR manager of Shanghai Installation Engineering Co. Ltd., made an elaborated introduction of the company, including its structure and human resources, their strategies oriented to the future, their demand for professionals and technicians, and the career development of the industrial workers in the building trade. She also put forward some specific suggestions for the cooperation between the university and companies.
In accordance with the conclusion drawn by the university-based team aiming to further develop industrial workers, Mao Jingtao, deputy chairman of the University Labor Union, presented a basic framework on the cooperation between our university and the company with five basic functions taken into consideration such as talent-training, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchange and collaboration. She made clear the labor division of the concerned parties and suggested that industrial production should be integrated with higher education in the end in response to the market supply and demand. Notably, all those who attended the meeting also expressed their opinions as will.
President Li Hexing made a summary at the end of the meeting. He expressed great appreciation to the delegates from other industries for their constructive suggestions on the cooperation between the companies and our university, and the innovation in higher education, research and production. Now we have started to establish the College of Artificial Intelligence Industry and the Institute of Tesla Automobile Industry at Lin’gang, and to launch the Collaborative Program of Training Industrial Workers. We are also planning to co-build an industrial base for advanced study and training with Shanghai Airlines. These big moves are intended to meet the demands of energy industry and power industry so that we can provide better service to Lin’gang New City. We will try to combine the development of major disciplines, the establishment of some important platforms, and the college education and scientific research with the different functions practiced on the two campuses of our university. On the other hand, we must focus on the requirements for the high-quality development and internal construction of our university. We must have a good idea of the overall discipline arrangements and distribution of specialties so that we can display our unique advantages to deepen the reform in the applied disciplines and specialties and the mode of training duly-positioned teaching staffs, and work out a training program oriented to the demand of industry. We must build up an evaluation system of training applied industrial workers along with a quality assurance system so that we can provide numerous qualified labor forces to the concerned industries.
