President Xi Jinping once declared that we must try to make the teaching profession the most respectable and the most enviable one and foster a social climate of respect for teachers and education. On the 37th Teachers’ Day, the Administrative Department of Retired Personnel dispatched its staff members to present the season greetings to some retired teachers and experts at the request of the Party Secretariat on behalf of the university.
The couple Jiang Jinliang and Chen Jin’e, two outstanding educators in the industry of electric power and experts with special subsidy from the State Council, had ever started an Odysseus journey to Xinjiang and involved themselves in the research and development of the first hydrogen bomb in China. Since 1980s both of them had been working together at this university. They joined efforts to have trained a lot of professionals in the industry of electric power. “The teaching profession is the most sacred one in the world. We are so proud to have devoted all our lives to the teaching careers and have trained some invaluable talents for the industry of electric power.” Jiang Jinliang and Chen Jin’e said.
Ding Huanru, formerly a chemistry professor who had ever won the Scientific Progress Prize from the Minstry of Electric Power for many times before retirement, is still ready to share his experience and discuss some disciplinary problems with teachers much to his junior. He is very excited all the same on recalling some young teachers and students he has instructed. “I’m so happy to see young teachers to go into maturity in their careers. As a teacher, I feel that nothing is better than to have disciples scattering all over the country.”
Xu Mingde, a former teacher from the Marxism-Leninism teaching and research section of the university who had ever nominated as one of the Top 10 Good People with Good Deeds by Shanghai Educational Committee, is still doing his part to serve the society. Now he is editing some articles and sharing them to the WeChat groups exclusively for the retired staffs to create a healthy climate in the cyberspace. “So long
as I can still see the screen clearly, I will continue to edit articles and share them to my colleagues so that they will be greatly inspired.”
The Administrative Department of the Retired Personnel promised to continue to pay visits of the retired staffs during the month to show respect for the Senior Citizens to intensify their sense of achievement and sense of gains.
