On the evening of May 18th, 2021, Li Hexing, Vice Party secretary and President of SUEP, entered the classroom and gave the attendees a marvelous ideological lesson, which is part of the Course “Xi Jinping’s Theories of the Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era”. The theme is intended to explore how to put the theories of Xi Jinping into our educational practice.
Centering on the educational theories of President Xi Jinping, President Li Hexing elaborated some of the educators’ missions such as why we should entrench our education in China, why we should strengthen morality education and take it as a fundamental task, why we should adhere to socialism-oriented education, why we should develop our education for the people, and why we should have education play an important part in realizing the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. Meanwhile, he further presented his own ideas on how to put the educational theories of President Xi Jinping into our practice. Considering the factual situation of our university, he gave a detailed introduction of the efforts made by the faculty with some vivid examples in strengthening morality education, in standing up for the leadership of the Party over the colleges and universities, in building up higher-level universities deeply rooted in our own culture and strengthening the international cooperation, and in training socialist constructors and successors with Chinese characteristics.
Revolving around the themes “Striving for a higher position, bearing the missions in mind and developing a further understanding of colleges and universities”, President Li Hexing expounded the developmental history of colleges and universities, their essential missions, their basic spirits, and their rudimental cultures. As a senior and teacher with much patience and affection, he shared his rich experience, his life philosophy and his personal growth to the audience and inspired them a lot.
To ignite the students a deeper love for the Party, for their country and for their Alma Mater, President Li combined the development of our university with the theme “Practice what we have learned to build up a higher level university” and gave a brief introduction of the electricity-oriented history of our university since its founding 70 years ago, especially the achievements we achieved in all respects up till today. From his vivid introduction the students acquired a better knowledge of the history of the university so that they felt very proud and yearned to give back the Alma Mater someday.
This lecture is not only a demonstration of President Li’s own understanding of the theories of President Xi Jinping with Chinese characteristics in a new era but an exhibition of our efforts and achievements in arming ourselves with scientific theories, taking them as guidelines in our social practice and ensuring more efficiency in our work. Combining facts with theories, President Li put across them very vividly with a solid theoretical basis and thus much applicability is expected. All the students remained attentive and frequently interacted with President Li. Generally speaking, the lecture was well received. They all reached more agreements on the theories of President Xi Jinping with Chinese characteristics in a new era, not only politically, but theoretically and emotionally.
