On October 25th, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, a professional institution of higher education evaluation, officially released the 2021 ARWU Best Discipline Rankings in China, Four disciplines of our university including electrical engineering, chemical engineering and technology, power engineering and engineering thermal physics, control science and engineering were found on the list. Among them, the discipline of electrical engineering is ranked in the top 40% with No. 40 in all the universities of the country, the discipline of chemical engineering and technology in the top 40% with No. 71, and the disciplines of power engineering and engineering thermal physics of HUST in the top 50% with No. 46.
The indexes for the best discipline rankings in China are made up of five categories as follows: talent cultivation, scientific research programs, academic achievements and awards, published academic papers, and top-class talents. They can be further divided into 16 index dimensions, including more than 50 measurement indicators. The data for the best discipline rankings China are all from the authoritative third parties such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation Committee, and international and domestic databases. The index data of each discipline are obtained after standardized data cleaning and discipline classification processing.
