British Consul General Shanghai Visited SUEP

        On November 26, 2015, the British Consul General John Edwards paid a visit to our university, together with two colleagues from British Consulate General Shanghai, Tim Standbrook, Consul Science & Innovation, Xiaowen ZHANG, Deputy Head of Climate Change and Energy Team for East China Region/Head of External Communications for China Climate Change and Energy Network. They received the warmest welcome by President Li Hexing, and Vice President Li Yanling.

        President Li introduced to Mr. Edwards about SUEP, its characteristics, traditionally featured disciplines, and the joint education program cooperated with the University of Strathclyde in the UK. Meanwhile President Li expressed his anticipation to further the collaboration with British universities and institutions in faculty and student exchange, and scientific research projects. Mr. John Edwards shared his opinions on the close relationship between China and UK, especially in energy field. His suggestions on communication and cooperation between SUEP and UK were considered to be beneficial to our future development. He also gave a brief introduction of different divisions in Consulate General Shanghai, like Culture and Education Section, Science Innovation Section and Climate Change and Energy Team, etc. The discussion was followed with a lab tour within the campus, including the Smart Grid Demonstration Center.

        This visit by British Consulate General Shanghai will build bridges between SUEP and universities in the UK, via which SUEP will strive for more opportunities to collaborate with UK in smart grid technology, energy storage technology and new energy, etc.
