On November 26, Mr. Thabo Thage, South African Consul General Shanghai, came to visit SUEP, accompanied by Mr. Morne Marx, Consul Politics, and Chen Jing, Assistant. They were welcomed by President Li Hexing and Vice President Li Yanling. After the welcome address was a friendly talk regarding future cooperation and relationship.
President Li made an introduction to Mr. Thabo Thage on SUEP’s characteristics, current discipline organization and our collaborative relationship with universities in South Africa. Then President Li hoped the meeting would benefit the communication and research cooperation between South African universities and SUEP. Mr. Thabo Thage inquired about the Bachelor and Master programs in SUEP, and SUEP’s industrial links. He stressed that electric power industry plays an important role in South Africa, and would like to encourage the partnership between SUEP and universities in South Africa, considering SUEP’s prestige in this field. Then Mr. Thabo Thage visited SUEP’s laboratories and Smart Grid Demonstration Platform, highly praising the research conditions in our university.
This meeting with South Africa will prove to be a good opportunity to expand communication with universities in South Africa, and SUEP’s international recognition in electric power field.
