The Research Center on the Localization of Marxism in China and Collaborative Innovation Development in Energy and Electric Power Co-established with SIIS

On September 19th, to propel the theoretical studies of President Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era, to promote the exchanges in teaching and research, to realize the integration of production and education, and to aid the construction of an energy power, the opening ceremony of the Research Center on the Localization of Marxism in China and Collaborative Innovation Development in Energy and Electric Power was held in Conference Room 301, Academics Building located on Lin’gang Campus, which was co-established by our university and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. Among those who attended the ceremony there are Chen Dongxiao, president of SIIS, Yang Jiemian, head of the Academic Consultation Committee, Yan Anlin, vice president of SIIS, Li Hexing, president and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of SUEP, Zhang Xianzhi, a standing member of the University Party Committee, director of the Department of Publicity and dean of the College of Marxism Studies, and Li Qifen, director of the Department of Academic Studies. More than 150 concerned experts and selected teaching staffs and students attended the ceremony on the spot or on the line, which was presided by vice president Fu Yang.  




Li Hexing addressed at the meeting and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the university to all the leaders, experts and scholars who have been showing deep concern and giving staunch support to the development of our university. He first congratulated on the establishment of the Research Center and pointed out that this cooperative construction is conducive to further theoretical studies and to exploring a new model of cultivating application-oriented and innovative talents under the guidance of Marxism theories in the New Era. He hoped that all the faculty will enhance their political awareness and strengthen their sense of responsibility and mission in conducting research work; Both parties are expected to display their advantages of cooperation to the fullest, integrate various research resources, and achieve synchronous effects; we must strive to translate our academic studies into tangible results and to achieve a higher level with a brand new starting-point.




President Li signed the collaborative protocol with Chen on behalf of both parties and attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the research center together with Yang Jiemian.

Evolving the basic principles of Marxism and energy ethics, developmental issues on energy in the localization of Marxism in China, ideological education and educational mechanism with deep concern about energy, and the dissemination of energy development conception and concrete practices with Chinese characteristics at home and abroad, the center will conduct further theoretical studies, strengthen academic exchanges, help broaden the academic horizons of the teaching staffs and students; speed up the talents training,  build the mode of applied talents training, strengthen academic cooperation and bring the relevant research to a higher level.  

Jiao Fengmei, deputy executive dean of the College of Marxism Studies and director of the Research Center, said that the Center will continue to deal with the mating operation and communication between the two parties, optimize the academic teamwork, lock on the major directions in academic research, break down the barriers of scientific research, and strive to build up a distinctive research platform for academic studies, upgrading disciplines, talents training, and social service.
